The Splitboard Concept

Based on the same principle as ski touring, the splitboard is a snowboard cut longitudinally into two or three parts, to be used like skis. The board is fitted with assembly clips to join the spliboard into a single section for descents, or split it into two sections for ascents. Specially designed Karakoram bindings must be chosen with care, accompanied by crampons or "knives" to prevent skidding on the way up. A pair of sealskins under the soles guarantees a perfect grip during the effort, and poles are essential for your ascents.
